Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Master Built Joe Strummer Telecaster

Just as 45 years have passed since the release of the emblematic album "London Calling" by the group The Clash in 1979, we get a new collaboration from Fender with Lucinda Tait , the widow of Joe Strummer , which has resulted in a replica of another of theirs. Telecaster after the white '59 Esquire that the Custom Shop reproduced in 2021, and a more affordable Joe Strummer Telecaster in a MIM (Made In Mexico) version that was marketed shortly after. Now the Custom Shop is once again in charge of this meticulous replica by luthier Paul Waller .

Paul Waller comments in the presentation video that this has been one of his most difficult jobs, and we are not surprised seeing the amount of repainting, wear, bumps, scratches, rust, and even the stickers including the setlist stuck on top that has had to reproduce to achieve this Limited Edition Master Built Joe Strummer Telecaster . A guitar that faithfully reflects the look of the modified 1966 Tele used by Joe Strummer to record and tour with The Clash and with his last band The Mescaleros.

The body is two-piece alder with nitrocellulose lacquer and a Super Heavy Relic Aged Black finish over a Three-Color Sunburst , which includes brutal wear on the top edge until it is rounded almost like that of a Strato. The maple neck has a mid-60s C profile, 3A rosewood fingerboard , 21 Jescar Vintage frets , 7.25" radius, brass nut , and Schaller M6 tuners .

The bridge, another of the many modifications made to the original, has 6 steel saddles and strings through the body. While in the electronics it mounts a pair of '67 Single-Coil Teles hand-wound by Josefina Campos , and with the classic Tele controls for volume, tone and 3-position selector.

The Limited Edition Joe Strummer Masterbuilt Telecaster is priced at $20,000 , which includes a pink case with plush leopard-skin interior, a Joe Strummer strap, and a certificate of authenticity.
