The Roger Mayer Spitfire is the latest addition to the Rocket Series of fuzz guitar effects, carefully crafted to emulate the rich, harmonic-laden distortion typical of classic triode tubes. This design allows for the use of chords at high distortion levels without the harshness often associated with other fuzz boxes.

The Spitfire preserves the original tone of the guitar while introducing a fresh, modern distortion/fuzz sound that stands out from mere reissues of decades-old designs. It offers low noise, high gain performance that's stable and free from electronic interference, making it ideal for live settings. The increased output level can intensely overdrive any amplifier, and adjusting the Gain or Drive results in feedback at low volumes and nearly endless sustain that remains tight and melodically rich.

The overall EQ of the Spitfire is tailored to produce a full, musical tone, avoiding the thin, fizzy quality typical of digital models and multi-effects units. The analogue circuitry excels in creating superior high gain, low noise sounds. During live performances, it responds exceptionally well to the guitar’s volume control, smoothly transitioning from intense distortion back to the clean, original tone of the guitar.

The Spitfire promotes fluid, fast solos with its clean note-to-note transitions, avoiding the spitting sounds often heard with signal decay in other pedals. Its unique feedforward feature, which directly interacts with the guitar’s pickups, optimizes its performance based on the player’s touch and technique, ensuring a responsive and personalized experience.

Housed in a durable Rocket casing with a striking Signal Red finish, the Spitfire features Hard Wire Bypass for pure signal path, Output Level, and Drive or Gain controls. It runs on an internal 9 Volt battery with over 150 hours of operational life, and can also be powered by an external supply (not included). This pedal is user-friendly, requiring no prior knowledge or extensive manual study to achieve optimal performance.
