Acoustic guitars are the origin of guitar itself. In basic there are two flavours, classical and non-classical. You could say classical guitars are Spanish guitars, or guitars built in the European tradition. Classical guitars always have nylon strings and a fairly wide fretboard in comparison to non-classical guitars. Non-classical guitars are built in the American tradition and are most of the time stringed with steel strings, have a more narrow fretboard and a longer neck and can come in different body shapes.
