Description

The 1964 Gretsch Country Gentleman is a highly sought-after vintage classic, famously designed with and endorsed by Chet Atkins—one of the most influential guitarists in history. This model reflects Gretsch’s golden-era craftsmanship and was a top-tier choice for professionals in the '60s, offering a refined look, superior build quality, and versatile tonal control.

Built in the USA and finished in a deep walnut stain, this double-cutaway 1964 model features a sealed laminated maple body, eliminating f-holes to reduce feedback—one of Chet’s key requirements. It comes equipped with dual Filter'Tron humbuckers for that signature Gretsch sparkle and warmth, along with a Bigsby B6 vibrato tailpiece for expressive bends and vibrato effects.

The ebony-based adjustable bridge includes the original string mute mechanism, and Grover Sta-Tite tuners provide solid tuning stability. The maple neck and bound ebony fingerboard with thumbnail inlays ensure smooth playability across 22 frets. Unique to this period, the guitar includes a standby switch, tone switch, and individual volume controls, offering a wide range of tonal shaping.

This is a vintage semi-hollow electric guitar with a sealed laminated maple body, dual Filter’Tron pickups, and a Bigsby tremolo, built in the United States in 1964 and designed to meet the exacting standards of Chet Atkins, whose name it proudly bears.
