This Martin Custom Shop D-30 Flamed Maple is in essence based on the HD-28. The biggest difference to the HD-28 is that the D-30 has been manufactured in the Martin Custom Shop. Martin went deeper into the instrument and coordinated key components more precisely, such as the top bracing.

For this guitar, Martin chose a gorgeous Flamed Maple top which, besides looking great, gives the guitar a complex tone, and individual tones are more powerful. So exactly what you'd expect from a Martin Custom Shop instrument. The D-30's visual features that make it stand out amongst other Martin instruments are the colored ornaments and the abalone rosette.
