1967 Gibson ES-345 in Sunburst: A Vintage Classic
The Gibson 1967 ES-345 stereo in vintage sunburst is a celebrated guitar, known for its tonal versatility and elegant aesthetics. This guitar has a ton of mojo, is super lightweight at 3,4 kilo's and was converted to mono (but original electronics included) is in super condition, with original frets, and plays very well. Obviously the lacquer is original and beautifully weather checked.
This semi-hollow beauty sports a double-cutaway body made from laminated maple, with a stunning vintage sunburst finish that highlights its timeless appeal. One standout feature of the ES-345 is its Varitone switch, a six-position rotary selector that allows players to alter the guitar's frequency response for different tonal textures. The guitar comes equipped with Gibson's PAF-style humbucking pickups, delivering a warm, full-bodied sound with excellent clarity and sustain. Its neck is crafted from mahogany, and the rosewood fingerboard, adorned with split parallelogram inlays, completes its vintage look and feel.
Introduced in 1959, the ES-345 represented a sophisticated option within Gibson's thinline, semi-hollow lineup. It was designed as an upgrade to the ES-335, offering additional features like the Varitone switch and stereo output, which allowed players to use dual amplifiers or split their signal paths. The ES-345 quickly gained popularity among jazz, blues, and rock guitarists alike, as it offered the warmth of a hollow-body guitar but with significantly reduced feedback. This model from 1967 is especially cherished, as it marked a period where Gibson had honed its craftsmanship, producing guitars with impeccable attention to detail and quality.
The Gibson ES-345 has been a favorite among a wide range of legendary musicians. B.B. King, for instance, is often associated with the ES series, although his preference leaned towards the ES-355, an evolution of the 345. Nonetheless, guitarists such as Freddie King and Chuck Berry have wielded the ES-345, using it to define their signature sounds across blues and rock 'n' roll. Its rich tonal range and iconic look make it a coveted choice for collectors and players who appreciate a guitar with deep historical roots and unmatched versatility. The 1967 ES-345 vintage sunburst, with its characteristic warmth and character, is a testament to Gibson's legacy and its ongoing impact on music history.
