Beschreibung
Crafted in 2004 by the esteemed German luthier Nik Huber, this Orca model showcases the meticulous artistry and attention to detail that have earned Huber a devoted following among guitar aficionados. Known for combining modern precision with traditional luthiery, Nik Huber—whose workshop is nestled in the town of Rodgau, Germany has built a reputation for producing instruments that are as visually stunning as they are sonically rich. This particular Orca features an exceptional curly maple top finished in a deep warm amber stain that radiates warmth and vintage charm. The body and neck are carved from select mahogany, offering a resonant tonal foundation that complements the articulate high end of the maple.
Due to the fact that these guitars are seldom seen on the pre owned market, this is a rare opportunity to experience a Nik Huber Orca that is already old enough to have gained character during the 21 yeasr of its existence. Nevertherless this instrument is in very fine condition.,
A standout feature of this instrument is its Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, (with full cites paperwork) a highly coveted tonewood prized for its lush, harmonic complexity, silky feel, and visually striking grain. Due to its limited availability and protected status, Brazilian rosewood is rarely seen on modern instruments, making this Orca all the more special.
The guitar body is slightly thinner than an Orca '59, making it a little lighter and more comfortable to play. (This guitar was produced before the distinction was made between 'Orca' and 'Orca 59'. There only was 'Orca' at that time) Also the qualification 'Exceptional' top did not exist yet in the Huber vocabulary, but according our experience with these beauties I can safely say this top would qualifys as 'exceptional'
The guitar is outfitted with Haussel pickups, handmade in Germany, which deliver a dynamic and expressive tonal range. Adding a layer of versatility, the guitar has been professionally prepared for a piezo/synth pickup system to be used as a possibility to use both acoustic sounds and also guitar synthesizer sounds. Installed by respected luthier Dick Dijkman, with the remarkable detail that no wood was removed during the installation—ensuring the instrument’s structural and tonal integrity remains untouched. This Orca is a rare blend of boutique craftsmanship, premium materials, and forward-thinking functionality.
