The Gladio SC (single channel) is designed to deliver the same tone as the larger version, the 'Gladio,' but in a smaller and more compact format.

While the dual-channel Gladio was inspired by artists like Robben Ford and Sonny Landreth, the Gladio SC aims to come closer to the tone of Stevie Ray Vaughan, achieved using a Dumble amplifier.

The Gladio SC is based on the first channel of the original Gladio, with the exact same sound and controls, except for the addition of a new CLEAN knob. This feature makes a significant difference and is what brings the tone closer to SRV's sound. The clean signal is taken directly from the pedal's input and remixed with the overdriven signal at the output. The CLEAN knob controls the volume of the clean signal, resulting in a "clean layer" on top of the overdriven sound, which greatly helps in achieving that Texas-blues tone.

A Clean knob like this affects three parameters simultaneously (you can observe their changes when you sweep the Clean control from zero to even 40% rotation):

  • Bottom End: The tone becomes fuller and fatter.
  • Compression: The uncompressed clean sound enters the mix, with the change in compression most noticeable on the attack.
  • Saturation: As the clean sound blends in, the overall output becomes hotter, allowing for better pushing of the amp’s front end.
