The Special Cranker is an all-discrete analog distortion pedal designed to add extra grit and boost while preserving the natural nuances and character of your amp. It acts like inserting an extra preamp tube into your amplifier, delivering enhanced saturation with blooming single notes, thickened power chords, and complex harmonically rich chords that remain articulate. Building on the original Speaker Cranker, this version offers more gain, increased output with a dedicated Level control, a responsive Tone knob for shaping the highs, and a diode switch to select between classic Silicon and warm Germanium clipping.

The More control adjusts the gain, taking you from almost clean to medium overdrive. Because it controls transistor bias, you may hear slight noise while adjusting it—this is normal. Germanium mode produces a softer, more rounded tone with subdued highs, while Silicon mode is punchier and brighter with greater output. The Tone control gently rolls off or boosts highs, and the Level knob can nearly double your signal's volume. The Special Cranker also features true bypass, silent relay-based Flexi-Switch Technology, and a rugged, hand-built design for reliability on any stage.
