Developed over two years in close collaboration with Michael Landau, the Butter Machine is Vemuram’s take on a versatile, studio-grade distortion pedal. Inspired by Landau’s long-time use of the SD9—but reimagined to eliminate its harshness and compression—the Butter Machine offers a wide gain range, going from smooth overdrive to harmonically rich distortion. Throughout the R&D process, Landau tested prototypes in real-world sessions and on tour, helping to shape a pedal that’s dynamic, touch-sensitive, and exceptionally musical.

In addition to the standard Gain, Volume, and Tone controls, the Butter Machine includes two external trimpots that allow for precise tonal fine-tuning. It delivers extended sustain and thick saturation while remaining punchy and articulate—even when rolling back the guitar’s volume. Designed to be intuitive and expressive, this is Landau’s personal benchmark for modern distortion: refined, responsive, and effortlessly “buttery.”
