When you put together a guitar at the Martin Custom Shop, you can choose from exclusive types of wood with the highest quality grade, with virtually no restrictions. You can hear this directly in the sound of the guitar. With this guitar, our intention was to select wood that is purely quarter-sawn. This involves sawing perpendicular to the annual rings of the wood, so through the heart of the tree trunk. With this sawing direction, the material is more stable and it has a lower shrinkage percentage. Martin already saws the necks purely quarter-sawn and we wanted to continue that line in the Indian rosewood sides and back and in the Sitka spruce top. The shape and size of this guitar are also unique. We chose a 0000 body (quadruple or M-size and therefore larger than the 000). We chose a 12-fret shape, where the shoulders of the body meet at the twelfth fret. The result of all this is a very balanced and powerful sound, which does not immediately remind you of a Martin. After listening closely and playing for a while, the sound does remind you of a 000 'on steroids'. A powerful bass, interesting midrange and warmth in the highs. The guitar is equipped with herringbone inlays, abalone inlays in the rosette, Golden Era position markers and 45-style CF Martin inlays in the headstock. An extended bridge saddle and bindings along the neck complete the whole.
