What makes a vintage guitar amp so desirable? Could it be because of the look? Or the sound? Or maybe it's both? We have taken both into account when developing our new Classic amplifiers: the Koch Classictone II series! Of course, we also took a look at some of the iconic tube amps, as the new series consists of four classic tube amps equipped with EL84 power amp tubes for a warm sound with fantastic overdrive. To call a new product a classic may be a bit of an exaggeration. But it's hard to deny that that's exactly what we've achieved with these new 20- and 40-watt amplifiers.The look is definitely vintage and even with the Combo and Head models, both of which are available in a 20-watt and a 40-watt version, we have managed to recreate the sound of yesteryear. Much of the classic sound comes from the EL84 power amp tubes, which deliver a typical crystal-clear, bell-like high. Overdriven, the tubes lean strongly towards a vintage British sound. This gives our Koch Classictone II series amplifiers the wonderful combination of a warm clean paired with heavy overdrive, complete with signature "singing" overtones and a healthy dose of compression. There is a master volume adjustment on the front, so you can enjoy tube compression to the fullest. Whether you are at home, in the studio or on stage. The switch works like an attenuator and with a precisely responsive equalizer distributed across the three channels, the sound never gets thick or muddy, no matter which setting is chosen.
