This is a pre owned limited edition L-Series 1964 Telecaster in vintage white with Handwound Josefina pickups. Issued at the 50th anniversary of the 1964 made Strat and Tele! #L10787, 3,3 kilo's only Vintage White.
1964 was the year before the CBS take over (completed in January 1965) and counts as one of the best Fender production years ever. That year in which the civil rights act was signed, president Johnson re elected, but also the year of Beatle mania, The debut album of the stones and numerous other great bands coming on the bustling UK and US music scene. The year the guitars made by Fender were at the very crescent of their existence.
Leo was of course supervising the builds and this resulted in top notch quality instruments. This replica reflects that same quality that has been increasing since the Fender Custom Shop started in 1987.
This guitar is a 2014 build and has a lightweight ash body and quartersawn oval C shape maple neck, Josefina Campos handwound pickups. Fender has succesfully recreated the instrument with a beautiful Nitro Relic Olympic Aged thinskin White finish, it has the hand-wound '63 pickups by Custom Shop own Josefina Campos (who was Abby's apprentice for years), 6105 frets, a 9,5"-radius hand-selected rosewood fingerboard with 21 vintage-style frets and, in an extra-special touch, the long sought-after "L Series" neck plate. Pat Pend saddles.
