Solid Body
The most well-known guitars today are known as “solid body” electric guitars. As the name implies these are electric guitars made of solid wood without resonating airspaces within it. The electric circuitry within these solid body guitars translate the vibrations of the strings into an electric signal which is carried to an amplifier. Almost all the most popular guitar models (such as Stratocasters, Telecasters and Les Pauls) are solid body guitars though there are exceptions to the rule.
