The Skyline basses of Lakland have continued to amaze us for years; the playability, tone and level of finish is truly unprecedented at this price point. And for those who are even less familiar with Lakland, a short introduction; This Chicago-based boutique builder has long been the choice of VERY big players such as Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Adam Clayton (U2), Nate Mendel (Foo Fighters), Ben Kenny ( Incubus) and Tim Commerford (Rage Against The Machine). The completely handmade USA basses are fantastic, but for a much smaller budget you will find these Skyline variants; according to the recipe from Lakland USA but basses built in Indonesia and finished in Chicago; Here the final assembly takes place with USA hardware and pickups and all basses are adjusted and "plek'ed" (process in which the frets are computer controlled and therefore leveled and set up very precisely).

The 44/5501 and 44/5502 models come with active pickups. 44 or 55 indicates the number of strings (4 or 5...), 01 or 02 indicates the model where the 02 is the more luxurious of the two. The difference between the 01 and 02 models is in the pickups, the pre-amps and the finish. The Skyline models come without a gig bag or case!
