In I Love Rock 'N' Roll, Joan Jett encouraged us to "put another dime in the jukebox, baby". Sod that! For the foreseeable future all of our loose change will be going towards buying her brilliant signature guitar.
Jett's Melody Maker is like a muscle car—its sleek, slim mahogany body radiates '60s style, but it's packed with serious power. When Joan Jett bought her Melody Maker in 1977, she upgraded the original single-coil pickup with a Red Rhodes Velvet Hammer humbucker. Gibson has captured that high-output tone for her signature model using their own Burstbucker 3. Other standout features include a solid kill switch and a durable black vinyl pickguard. The guitar also boasts an ebony fingerboard, 'witch hat' control knobs, and Grover Mini tuners, all wrapped up in a worn white finish that adds to its vintage appeal.
