Coming in early July! These are preliminary pictures.

The vintage 1980 Gibson ES-335 Artist is a distinguished member of the Gibson semi-hollow body guitar family, blending classic design with innovative features. This model features a laminated maple top, back, and sides, contributing to its robust and resonant tone. It has a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, providing a smooth and comfortable playing experience. The ES-335 Artist is equipped with the TP-6 fine-tuning tailpiece and a Tune-O-Matic bridge, ensuring precise intonation and stable tuning. Notably, it includes active Moog electronics, which were a novel addition at the time, offering an expanded tonal palette with built-in compression and expansion effects. The standard dual humbucker pickups deliver the warm, rich tones characteristic of Gibson's iconic sound.

At the heart of the guitar is a traditional thinline ES body with multi-ply binding throughout and the top has no f-holes to cut back on unwanted feedback, a unique feature at the time. The woods used throughout have been selected for their degree of figuring. The neck shares similar construction to other high end period Gibsons with its figured five-piece laminated Maple construction. The fingerboard is bound Ebony with unique offset dot markers. Scale length is the traditional 24 3/4 and the brass nut is 1 11/16th wide. Hardware is gold plated throughout with Schaller machine heads, Gibson ABR-1 and fine tuning TP-6 tailpiece. Electronics comprises of the Moog expansion and compression circuitry with a bright mode with two potted Gold plated Gibson Humbuckers. Controls are a standard three way pickup selector with individual master bass, treble and volume controls and on/off switches for Bright mode, Expansion, and Compression.

Manufactured in Gibson's renowned Kalamazoo, Michigan factory, the 1980 ES-335 Artist represents a unique period in Gibson's history when they were experimenting with integrating modern technology into their traditional designs. The incorporation of Moog electronics set this model apart from other ES-335 variants, reflecting a brief but significant collaboration between Gibson and Moog Music. This guitar aimed to offer musicians more versatility and control over their sound, appealing to a generation of players eager for innovation. The ES-335 Artist, although not as ubiquitous as other models in the ES-335 lineage, holds a special place among collectors and enthusiasts for its distinctive features and the unique era of craftsmanship it represents.
