The Telecaster Custom was one of Fender's first ventures into humbucking pickups. This model featured a 3-way toggle switch on the upper bout and dual volume and tone controls on an elongated pickguard. The Limited Edition American Vintage II 1977 Telecaster Custom faithfully recreates the iconic tone and feel of the '70s, with the addition of a comfortable belly cut not present in the original design.

This Tele is equipped with a Wide Range humbucker in the neck position and a Pure Vintage '77 single-coil Tele pickup at the bridge. To replicate the original Wide Range humbucker sound, Fender revived CuNiFe magnets, which had been out of production since 1981 and are key to achieving the authentic tone. The American Vintage II 1977 Telecaster Custom offers superb playability with its '77 "C"-shaped hard rock maple neck, a 7.25" radius fingerboard in either maple or rosewood, and vintage tall frets. Additional features include a Tele bridge with six slotted steel barrel saddles, "F" stamped tuners, a "Bullet" truss rod nut, and a three-bolt neck plate with a Micro-Tilt mechanism.
